Qatar Airways Flight adjustments for the FIFA World Cup.

In order to cope with the high numbers of passengers who will be travelling to and from Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup which runs from the 20th of November to the 18th of December. Qatar Airways has had to make operational changes to its route network resulting in reduced frequencies to some destinations whilst others will be totally suspended. Flights that are suspended will resume on varying dates with others as early is the first week of December whilst others resume mid December towards the end of the FIFA tournament

  • Abuja, Nigeria: From 5x weekly to 3x weekly
  • Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: From 3x weekly to 2x weekly
  • Cape Town, South Africa: From 10x weekly to 7x weekly until 14 December.
  • Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: From 10x weekly to 7x weekly
  • Djibouti: All flights to be suspended
  • Entebbe/Kampala, Uganda: Suspended from 2-5 December and 18-20 December
  • Harare Int’l, Zimbabwe: All flights to be suspended. (resumes 7 December
  • Johannesburg O.R. Tambo, South Africa, reduced from 21x to 14x weekly
  • Kano, Nigeria: All flights suspended.
  • Khartoum, Sudan: From 7x weekly to 4x weekly
  • Kilimanjaro, Tanzania: From 10x weekly to 3-7x weekly
  • Lagos, Nigeria, From 14x weekly to 7x weekly
  • Lusaka, Zambia: All flights suspended until the 7th of December.
  • Luxor, Egypt: All flights suspended.
  • Maputo, Mozambique: From 4x weekly to 3x weekly
  • Mogadishu, Somalia: All flights suspended.
  • Windhoek Int’l, Namibia:All flights suspended
  • Zanzibar, Tanzania: From 14x weekly to 4-7x weekly

Qatar Airways will resume normal frequencies to most destination by Christmas and will actually be adding more frequencies to some destinations in a development not related to the FIFA world cup. Those destinations are;

  • Cape Town: From 10x weekly to 14x weekly starting on the 6th of January 2023.
  • Lusaka and Harare: From 5x weekly to 7x weekly starting on the 17th of January 2023
