Air India suspends flights to Kenya

Air India has announced a temporary suspension of its Delhi–Nairobi route, effective from 1 September to 25 October 2025. Flights are expected to resume from 26 October 2025, with reservations for that date onwards currently available.

However, travel isn’t cut off thanks to Air India’s strategic codeshare and interline partnership with Kenya Airways, passengers can still travel between Delhi and Nairobi with minimal inconvenience:

  • Under the codeshare agreement, Kenya Airways places its “KQ” code on Air India-operated Delhi–Nairobi flights (when they operate), and Air India places its “AI” code on Kenya Airways-operated Nairobi–Mumbai flights.
  • This allows Air India customers to book the route Delhi–Nairobi via Nairobi–Mumbai or via Delhi on a single ticket, with baggage checked through to final destinations and consistent service standards.
  • The interline agreement expands the network even further, enabling seamless booking across 28 African destinations (like Johannesburg, Cape Town, Zanzibar) and 15 Indian cities (such as Bengaluru, Chennai, Goa, Kolkata) on a unified itinerary.

While Air India’s direct route to Nairobi is on hold, the partnership with Kenya Airways ensures that travel options remain fully intact. Thanks to the codeshare and interline agreements, passengers can still reach Nairobi and beyond without disruption or hassle.
