RwandAir Launches New Kigali → Zanzibar → Mombasa Triangular Service

RwandAir is set to launch a triangular route linking Kigali (KGL) with Zanzibar (ZNZ) and Mombasa (MBA), marking a smart realignment towards high-growth Eastern and Southern African leisure markets.

Route Structure & Schedule

According to RwandAir’s CEO, Yvonne Makolo, the service will begin in the coming months with direct flights to Mombasa and Zanzibar, enabling smoother, efficient travel. Flights will be operated four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

  • Kigali (09:30) → Zanzibar (13:00).
  • Zanzibar (13:40) → Mombasa (14:35).
  • Mombasa (17:00) → Zanzibar (17:55).
  • Zanzibar (18:40) → Kigali (20:10)

Continued Growth

RwandAir plans to double its fleet over the next five years, and in the past two months, they have received two Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The plan is to double their fleet over the next 5 years. As a result, the airline is also growing its route network. With the new triangular route, Rwanda’s renowned safaris can now be seamlessly paired with Zanzibar’s beaches and Mombasa’s coastal and wildlife attractions, offering compelling multi-destination packages for tourists.
