Air Tanzania is set to enhance its regional connectivity by introducing a new route between Johannesburg, South Africa, and Zanzibar, Tanzania. From 10 June 2025, the airline will operate twice-weekly flights on this route, specifically on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The introduction of this route complements Air Tanzania’s existing five-times-weekly service between Johannesburg and Dar es Salaam, which was launched in November 2024. By adding Zanzibar to its network, the airline aims to boost tourism and strengthen economic ties between Tanzania and South Africa.
Zanzibar, renowned for its pristine beaches and rich cultural heritage, is a popular destination for South African travelers. The new direct flights are expected to make the island more accessible, promoting increased tourist arrivals and economic growth in the region.
