Airlink Expands Regional Network with Increased Flights to 3 destinations

South Africa’s premier regional airline, Airlink, has announced significant enhancements to its flight schedules, responding to the growing demand for connectivity between Southern and East Africa. Effective from March 30, 2025, the airline increased its services to Lusaka (LUN, Zambia) Nairobi (NBO, Kenya), and Dar es Salaam (DAR, Tanzania) offering passengers more options for business and leisure travel.

Expanded Services to Nairobi

Airlink introduced three additional weekly night-time return flights between Johannesburg and Nairobi, complementing its existing daily service launched in 2023. This expansion aims to provide greater flexibility for travellers and strengthen economic ties between South Africa and Kenya. The new flights are scheduled to offer convenient connections through Airlink’s Johannesburg hub, facilitating access to domestic, regional, and long-haul destinations.

Increased Frequencies to Lusaka

The Johannesburg–Lusaka route has seen its frequency rise from 13 to 21 return flights per week. This increase reflects the strong demand for travel between the two cities, driven by business activities and regional tourism. The expanded schedule aims to provide passengers with more travel options and enhance connectivity within the Southern African region.

Enhanced Connectivity to Dar es Salaam

Airlink has also bolstered its services to Dar es Salaam by adding a new Saturday flight, making the route a daily service. This move responds to the increasing demand for travel between Johannesburg and Tanzania’s commercial hub, offering passengers more flexibility and reinforcing regional ties.

Strategic Expansion and Customer Focus

In addition to increasing flight frequencies, Airlink has established country offices in Lusaka and Gaborone to enhance customer service and support in Zambia and Botswana. These offices provide direct assistance with flight reservations, ticketing, and special services, aiming to improve accessibility and convenience for travellers in these markets.

Airlink’s CEO and Managing Director, Rodger Foster, emphasized that the expanded services are designed to offer business and leisure travelers greater choices and convenient connections through the airline’s Johannesburg hub. The enhancements align with Airlink’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of passengers and strengthening its position as a key player in regional air travel.
