Air Tanzania launches new route

Air Tanzania, the national carrier of Tanzania, has expanded its network by introducing direct flights between Dar es Salaam and Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The service commenced on March 26, 2025, with four weekly flights operated by the airline’s Airbus A220-300 aircraft.

Flight Schedule

Mondays and Tuesdays

  • Dar es Salaam to Kinshasa (Flight TC224): Departs at 11:40 AM, arriving at 1:20 PM
  • Kinshasa to Dar es Salaam (Flight TC225): Departs at 2:20 PM, arriving at 10:00 PM

Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays

  • Dar es Salaam to Kinshasa (Flight TC224): Departs at 10:10 AM, arriving at 11:50 AM
  • Kinshasa to Dar es Salaam (Flight TC225): Departs at 12:50 PM, arriving at 6:30 PM

Air Tanzania’s decision to operate this route aligns with its broader strategy to expand its African network and improve intra-continental connectivity. The use of the Airbus A220-300, known for its fuel efficiency and passenger comfort, underscores the airline’s commitment to providing quality service while optimizing operational costs.

The introduction of direct flights between Dar es Salaam and Kinshasa also supports regional tourism. Travellers can now more easily access attractions such as Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park and Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as the DRC’s Virunga National Park, renowned for gorilla trekking experiences.
