After months of uncertainty, Etihad Airways has finally resumed its flights to Nairobi, Kenya. This development comes after several postponements and changes in the original schedule. Etihad restarted operations between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Nairobi (NBO) on December 15, 2024. The route is now operating nonstop four times a week using an Airbus A320.
The airline initially planned to resume flights on May 1, 2024, but this was pushed back to June 1, 2024. On June 1, 2024, flights were indefinitely postponed without explanation. Etihad’s Vice-President of Network and Scheduling, Lena Havia, expressed gratitude towards the Kenyan and UAE authorities for authorizing the resumption of flights. She also thanked passengers for their patience during the extended period of uncertainty.
It remains to be seen whether Etihad will maintain this frequency and continue to operate the route in the long term. It would be great to see the route doing well and result in daily flights.
