After 33 incredible years at the forefront of South African aviation, Rodger Foster, the visionary CEO and founder of Airlink, will bid farewell to his role as Managing Director at the end of March 2025.
A New Era Dawns
Come April 1st, 2025, de Villiers Engelbrecht, Airlink’s current Chief Financial Officer, will take the helm as the company’s new CEO. However, Foster won’t be disappearing completely – he’ll continue to play an active role as a non-executive director and shareholder.
“It has been an honour and privilege to lead Airlink through what has been an exciting, at times very challenging, but ultimately rewarding journey,” Foster reflected. “After more than three decades in the post, it is time to pass the torch to my successor.”
Foster paid heartfelt tribute to his team, acknowledging their tireless efforts in propelling Airlink to new heights. He praised their dedication, professionalism, and unwavering support throughout his tenure.
A Legacy of Growth and Innovation
Since 2020, Airlink has forged groundbreaking commercial partnerships with numerous world-leading airlines. This strategic expansion would not have been possible without the hard work and expertise of Foster’s team.
Under his leadership, Airlink has evolved from a small regional carrier to a formidable force in South African aviation. Foster’s vision and strategic acumen have been instrumental in shaping the airline into the robust, customer-focused operation it is today.
As he prepares to embark on the next chapter of his journey, Rodger Foster leaves behind a legacy that will undoubtedly continue to inspire and shape the future of South African aviation. His departure marks the end of an era but also signals exciting times ahead for Airlink as it enters this new phase of growth and innovation under fresh leadership.
