Aircraft overruns runway in Equatorial Guinea

A Ceiba Intercontinental Boeing 737-800 overran the runway while landing at Malabo International Airport in Equatorial Guinea. On landing in poor weather, the aircraft slid off runway and came to a stop on soft ground at the end of the runway. No injuries were reported.

The Minister of Civil Aviation and Airport Infrastructure of Equatorial Guinea, Norberto Bartolomé Monsuy Mañe Andeme said; “The plane managed to land, but the weather conditions, which included very poor visibility and rainwater on the runway, caused the plane to slide off the runway into an unsuitable area.”
