Air Tanzania reintroduces Boeing 787 after being grounded for close to a year

A Boeing 787-8 dreamliner (5H-TCJ) operated by Air Tanzania flew from Dar Es Salaam to Kuala Lumpur (KUL, Malaysia) on the 8th of October 2023 for scheduled maintenance on the aircraft. The process took longer than expected due to issues acquiring the needed engine parts. For a period of 10 months, the aircraft sat idle in Kuala Lumpur with no engines installed.

Air Tanzania was forced to operate with a single Boeing 787 in service. The aircraft (5H-TCJ) finally flew back to Dar Es Salaam on the 2nd of August 2024 and was brought back into service on the 11th of August, flying from Dar Es Salaam to Mumbai. The aircraft has only been deployed on the Dar Es Salaam – Mumbai route since its reintroduction.
