Zambia Airwyas is spreading its wings Tanzania and Kenya with three weekly flights between Lusaka (LUN, Zambia) and Dar es Salaam (DAR, Tanzania) as well as Lusaka and Nairobi (NBO, Kenya). The flights will be operated on Tuesday, Thursdays, and Saturdays using a Boeing 737-700 leased from Ethiopian Airlines, which owns 45% of the airline.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, flights will operate from Lusaka to Nairobi via Dar Es Salaam in both directions, whereas on Saturdays, flights will operate from Lusaka to Dar Es Salaam via Nairbo in both directions. Currently, only Kenya Airways offers direct flights between Lusaka and Nairobi whilst Air Tanzania is the only airline offering direct flights between Lusaka and Dar Es Salaam. It will be interesting to see if Zambia Airways entry will reduce prices and how load factors for the already established airlines will be affected.

CEO of Zambia Airways Thomas Woldesenbet said; “The network expansion is reflective of our mission of enhancing regional connectivity and making air transport services affordable for a wide range of customers.” He also alluded to how the new route would strengthen ties between Zambia and the two countries as well as allow for improved trade and tourism.
