Norse Atlantic, a Norwegian based low-cost carrier, will commence a new affordable service between London Gatwick Airport (LGW, United Kingdom) and Cape Town International Airport (CPT, South Africa). Flights will begin on the 28th of October and will be operated three times weekly using a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner capable of carrying 338 passengers (56 premium economy seats and 282 economy seats).
The addition of Norse Atlantic Airways’ direct flights will increase the weekly international flights between Cape Town and the United Kingdom to 27 flights per week during the upcoming International Air Transport Association (IATA) Winter season for 2024/25. The United Kingdom holds a significant position as Cape Town’s top market for international passenger traffic.

“We are thrilled to introduce our new route between London and Cape Town. Norse Atlantic is committed to delivering exceptional value without compromising on quality and we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the wonders of the world and our new route between London and Cape Town will allow many more people to visit these amazing destinations,” said Bjorn Tore Larsen, CEO and Founder of Norse Atlantic Airways.
The only airline operating between London and Cape Town at the moment is British Airways, which operates from London Heathrow Airport. From Europe, KLM also operates flights to Cape Town, albeit from Amsterdam.
