A Turkish Airlines Airbus A350-900 (reg. TC-LGK) operating from Cape Town (CPT, South Africa) to Istanbul had to make an emergency landing shortly after takeoff from CPT.
The flight departed from Cape Town on time at 16:45 on Monday 19 February, but after a short 10 minutes, the flight turned around. The reason was a medical emergency that occurred onboard. A passenger had suffered a heart attack and flught attendants had to engage in Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) efforts mid-air. 38 minutes after takeoff, the aircraft managed to land again at Cape Town International Airport and emergency services rushed towards the vehicle to assist the passenger in distress.
