EgyptAir currently has a fleet of 12 Airbus A220-300 jets delivered to the airline between 2019 and 2020. All 12 aircraft have been sold to Azorra which is an aircraft leasing company with a portfolio of almost 100 aircraft.
Although EgyptAir hasn’t actually provided a reason for this decision, the company’s CEO is on record stating that this move “clears the path for new Airbus wide body aircraft.” Just last year in November, EgyptAir placed a widebody order for 10 Airvus A350-900s so this could be a move to finance the aircraft or even order more.
John Evans, CEO and Founder of Azorra said, “These young, well-maintained aircraft with freshly overhauled, updated engines from Pratt & Whitney have strong market demand and are very attractive to Azorra’s rapidly growing customer base.”
