2023 Dubai Airshow

Compilation of orders made by African airlines at the 2023 Dubai Airshow.


EgyptAir

Egypt’s national airline placed two orders split between Airbus and Boeing. They will be adding 18 narrowbody aircraft from Boeing in the form of the 737-8. The aircraft will be leased from Air Lease Corporation under a 12-year lease deal. Deliveries are scheduled to start in 2025 and end in 2026. In terms of widebody aircraft, the airline chose Airbus to supply them with 10 of the A350-900 jets to be delivered between 2025 and 2027.

Ethiopian airlines

Africas’ largest airline placed an order for narrowbody and widebody aircraft. They ordered 20 more Boeing 737-8s with options for 21 more of the B737 Max jets. They also ordered 11 more Boeing 787-9s with options for 25 more of the B787 Dreamliners. Airbus also received an order for 11 more A350-900 jets. Other news from the airline was that they will be doing interior refits on their B787s. The refit will include installing new IFE systems and new business and economy class seats.

Royal air maroc (RAM)

Moroccan national airline RAM bolstered its current fleet of 9 B787 Dreamliner (5 787-8s and 4 B787-9s) with an order for 2 more of the -9 variant which will bring their total to 11 Dreamliners when all deliveries are completed.
