Dreamliner Fleet
Air Tanzania has 2 Boeing 787s in their fleet and one that is yet to be delivered. The aircraft in the fleet have registrations 5H-TCG and 5H-TCJ. Both aircraft are configured with a total of 262 seats. 22 in business class and 240 in economy class. 5H-TCG is the oldest, having been delivered in June 2018, making it 5 years old. 5H-TCJ was received in Oct 2019, making it 4 years old.
Past flight activity
One (5H-TCJ) has been in China for over 2 months. Its last scheduled flight was between Dar Es Salaam (DAR, Tanzania) and Guanzhou (CAN, China) on the 12th of August. The other (5H-TCG) flew from Dar Es Salaam to Kuala Lumpur (KUL, Malaysia) on the 8th of October. What’s interesting about this fight is that Air Tanzania does not operate any scheduled flights to Malaysia. No official statements have been made about either aircraft, but unconfirmed reports claim that 5H-TCJ is stuck in China due to unspecified ‘technical faults’.Due to the unavailability of the dreamliners, flights to China have been suspended and are set to resume on the 2nd of November according to the airlines booking system. The recently delivered B737-9 has been put to use mainly on the Dar Es Salaam – Mumbai (BOM, India) route, which was mainly operated by the B787 or A220.
