As losses mount, Air Belgium has decided to stop all flights on the 3rd of October and focus on a restructuring plan that will result in the airline focusing on charter and freight business instead of passenger services. Air Belgium will operate its last flight from Cape Town to Brussels via Johannesburg on the 2nd of October. The flight is scheduled to arrive in Brussels on the 3rd of October.
What’s interesting about this is that the only routes Air Belgium was still operating on were to African destinations. From their base in Brussels, they were still flying to Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Mauritius only. All other routes had been suspended already or were operated by other carriers.
