LAM Mozambique resumed flight operations between Beira (BEW) and Johannesburg (JNB, South Africa) as well as Vilankulos (VNX) and Johannesburg. Both routes will be operated three times weekly. Flights between Beira and Johannesburg will be operated on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays using a 50 seater ERJ145 aircraft, whereas flights between Vilankulos and Johannesburg will be operated on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays using a DHC-8-Q400 turboprop aircraft.
South African based Airlink currently operates on the Beira – Johannesburg route, operating five times weekly. The only days it doesn’t operate on the route are Wednesday and Friday, meaning that LAM Mozambique and Airlink will only have direct competition on the route on flights operated on Mondays. On the Vilankulos – Johannesburg route, Airlink operates daily using either the E190 or E170. Airlink also offers four weekly flights between Nelspruit and Vilankulos using a ERJ135.
