South African based low-cost carrier Safair, popularly known as FlySafair, will be expanding operations by introducing flights to 3 countries. From their hub in Johannesburg, the airline is now offering flights to Livingstone (LVI, Zambia), Maputo (MPM, Mozambique), and two destinations in Zimbabwe which are Harare (HRE) and Victoria Falls (VFA).
All flights will be operated using a Boeing 737. Safair operates only the B737 with its highest capacity 737-800NG seating 189 passengers in an all-economy configuration. With its low-cost model, Safair is set to make a big impact on the newly introduced routes. Its introductory fares are discounted to as much as half of what airlines already established on these routes are offering. All flights are set to be launched in the first week of October.
| Route | Weekly Frequency | Days | Return Fare | Competitors Return Fare |
| JNB – LVI | 4 | Sunday Monday Wednesday Friday | US$395 | Airlink US$370 |
| JNB – MPM | 4 | Sunday Monday Thursday Friday | US$184 | Airlink US$325 Airlink US$339 LAM $277 |

| JNB – VFA | 3 | Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday | US$206 | Fastjet US$396 Airlink $398 SAA US$645 |
Flight prices were compared using the same travel dates but it’s important to note that prices will change as travel dates gets closer. At the time of writing, October is two months away, thus allowing for great deals from the established airlines. In most cases, flights become more expensive as the date of travel gets closer but in some cases flights may become cheaper as airlines will be trying to avoid flying empty planes. It is also worth noting that Safair prices will definitely increase prices in the future once they have gained traction on the routes and have a strong clientele base. Despite increasing prices, they will likely remain the most affordable airline on the routes they operate.
