Airlink Plans to launch flights to Malawi

On the 23rd of September, Airlink will start operating flights between Johannesburg and Lilongwe as well as Johannesburg and Blantyre in Malawi, making it the 16th African country that the airline operates to.

The routes will each be serviced by the 37-seater Embaer ERJ135 aircraft. Flights will be operated 3 times weekly on both routes. Johannesburg – Lilongwe will be operated every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, whereas flights on the Johannesburg – Blantyre route will be operated every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.

“As the premier regional airline, Airlink sets out to provide travellers to and from Malawi with optimal connectivity through a wide choice of conveniently scheduled flights and connections within the region and, through our partners, to the rest of the world.
In addition to supporting the revitalisation of tourism, Airlink’s new routes will also be able to play a key role in the current Malawi Growth and Development Strategy, which aims to diversify the economy and build a wealthy, self-reliant and industrialised middle-income country,” said Airlink CEO and Managing Director, Rodger Foster.
