UAE PRESIDENT SPENDS HOLIDAY IN SOUTH AFRICA

The president of the UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan decided to visit South Africa for holiday and in the process he is said to have rebuilt a runway close to his holiday destination in the Eastern Cape. Bulembu Airport in Bhisho, got a R20 million upgrade paid for by the UAE president. The runway was upgraded to allow cargo jets to land and take off. About 15 aircraft used the runway, including multiple Boeing C-17 Globemasters, Boeing 787s,  Boeing Business Jets and a Gulfstream G650.

One of the cargo jets is said to have brought in five helicopters, one of them being an air ambulance, another for the president and some for security details and carrying extra guests or goods. The other things flown in included furniture and cars. More than 500 people were flown to Belumbu Airport and among them were family members, guests, entertainers, security and helpers.

 Eastern Cape’s Provincial Government spokesperson, Khuselwa Rantjie said, “The UAE president is undertaking a private visit and is expected to explore the beauty of the Eastern Cape.”
