In a tweeter post, Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA) acknowledged that a bomb threat had been recieved. The twitter thread read, “Johannesburg – Airports Company South Africa can confirm that it received a notification of an alleged bomb on-board a Singapore airline, SQ 478 on the morning of Tuesday, 14 March 2023.
The Aircraft landed at O.R. Tambo International Airport and is still on the ground. Emergency services were activated along with Fire and Rescue and South African Police Service (SAPS).
At approximately 11h39am the aircraft was declared safe by SAPS, after screening was completed by K9 units. As ACSA we will continue to act swiftly to prioritise the safety of all our passengers. The aircraft departed safely at 12h37 p.m (local hours).”
