A 25 year old Fokker 50 (5Y-SIB) jet belonging to Skyward Express made an emergency landing at Nairobi-Jomo Kenyatta Airport (NBO). The aircraft was enroute from Wajir Airport (WJR) to Nairobi-Wilson Airport (WIL). Flight was operated as a cargo flight with 10 people onboard.

Upon departure from Wajir Airport, the crew were involved in a bird strike just after being airborne. Despite the bird strike, the pilot’s continued with the flight. Whilst on approach to Wilson Airport, the crew noticed the landing gear was not exting and locking in place. They requested to be diverted to NBO where they performed a gear up landing on runway 06. All 10 passengers were evacuated safely.
