Air Namibia suspended all operations in February 2021 due to financial difficulties, but the Namibia ruling party is eager to see the airline take to the skies again.
During one of the ruling parties Congress held in Windhoek, it was discussed that reviving the airline should be strongly considered, especially since some of the aircraft that Air Namibia uses to operate as still in the country. Four jets comprising of one Airbus A319-100 and three Embraer ERJ135s are stored in Namibia whilst one ERJ135 and one A319-100 are stored in South Africa. Despite pressure from the ruling party, the finance minister made it clear that reviving the airline remains on the cards but would not happen in the coming year.
