Ethiopian Airlines Aims for 250+ Jets by 2035

Ethiopian Airlines is settings its sights on vision 2035 as their vision 2025 targets have already been reached. Some of the targets are becoming a USD10 billion airline and opening four hubs in Africa. One in the east, west, central, and south. Ethiopian Airlines had set a target for 120 aircraft flying to 90 international destinations and carrying around 18 million passengers per annum whilst also carrying 820 000 tonnes of cargo.

For vision 2035, Ethiopian Airlines will aim to almost double its fleet to more than 250 jets as stated by the Group CEO Mr. Mesfin Tasew who said, “Today, Ethiopian Airlines operates around 135 aircraft. By 2035, we would like to expand this fleet to more than 250 aircraft.” The airline also aims to increase its annual revenue to over USD25 billion

For their narrowbody fleet, Ethiopian Airlines ruled out the A320neo as they already have a sizeable Boeing 737 fleet. An order for beings latest 777 cargo jet was placed but Airbus was not ruled out as they also have a sizeable A350 fleet.
