A flight from Khartoum (KRT, Sudan) to Addis Ababa (ADD, Ethiopia) operated by Ethiopian Airlines using a Boeing 737-800 jet had an incident after both pilots fell asleep during the flight.
It is reported that the flight reached Addis Ababa whilst still at it’s cruising altitude of 37,000 feet. Upon realising the aircraft was not descending in order to line up for an approach and landing, Air Traffic Controllers tried to contact the crew but their efforts were in vein.
The pilots were finally woken up after the auto pilot disengaged and an alarm went off. Pilots proceeded to descend and landed safely without any further incidents.
