Airlink (LNK, South Africa) operated it’s inaugural flight on the Johannesburg (JNB, South Africa) 🔁 Victoria Falls (VFA, Zimbabwe) route on the 15th of August. The flight will be operated daily using the Embraer E190 jet.
This has been a welcome development for the resort town of Victoria Falls especially since South African Airways (SAA) and Comair operating as British Airways had cancelled flights on the same route. SAA operated using a widebody jet before they cancelled their flights whilst Comair used the popular Boeing 737 narrow body jet before their demise and shutdown.
There have been attempts to fill the void left by SAA and Comair as proven by Airlinks introduction of daily flights whilst Fastjet has increased flights to 3 daily return flights on the route. Competition and options on the route are set to increase as FlySafair is also trying to enter the market as it applied for route approval to join the list of airlines serving the route.
