157 feared dead after Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8 Crashes.

An Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8 on route from Addis Ababa to Nairobi lost contact with Air Traffic Controllers about 6 minutes after departure. The aircraft registered as ET-AVJ was delivered to Ethiopian Airlines on the 16th of November 2018. Confirmed reports state that there were 157 people on board (149 passengers and 8 crew members). Search and rescue operations are already underway.

There are growing concerns over the safety of the Boeing MAX family as this is the second MAX 8 to have crashed within a period of 5 months. The other crash occurred on the 29th of October 2018 when a the brand new Lion Air Boeing 737 MAX 8 crashed into the Java Sea 12 minutes after takeoff. All 189 passengers and crew were killed in the crash. Boeing received part of the blame for the crash as the airplane manufacturer had put in new technology and did not tell the aircraft operators about it nor did they provide training on how to operate the new technology. Many believe it is this technology that caused the Ethiopian Airlines flight to crash as well. All this is still speculation at this time as investigations are still underway.
