African Aviation on the Rise: New routes, New Aircraft…

Ethiopian Airlines:

Ethiopian Airlines 737-800 freighter.

Ethiopian Airlines took delivery of their first of two converted Boeing 737-800 freighters leased from GECAS. The jets are capable of carrying 23.5 thousand tonnes.

Africa World Airlines:

Africa World Airlines (AWA) recently announced an increase of flight frequencies between Accra and Takoradi. The route will now have four return trips daily starting from the 11th of March.

South African Airways:

South African Airways and Africa World Airlines signed a Memorandum of Understanding for code sharing.

Qatar Airways:

Qatar Airways Boeing 787

Qatar Airways plans to increase flights to South Africa as follows; Doha~Johannesburg from 14 to 18 weekly flights starting in July and from 18 to 19 weekly flights in August and finally from 19 to 21 weekly flights by the 31st of October.
Doha~Cape Town will be increased from 7 to 10 weekly flights starting from the 27th of October.

Brussels Airlines:

Brussels Airlines is set to resume weekly flights between Brussels and Kinshasa after having previously reduced them to 4 weekly flights due to political reasons.

Air Sychelles:

Air Seychelles will begin seasonal flights to Antananarivo in Madagascar. Flights will commence on the 3rd of July until the 26th of October onboard the Airbus A320. Also, Air Sychelles will be adding flights to Mumbai starting in May but this comes at the cost of suspending flights to Abu Dhabi.

Comair :

Comair took delivery of a brand new Boeing 787 MAX 8 painted in British Airways livery.

Comair, a South African Airlines which operates as British Airways under a franchise agreement took delivery of the first of 8 new Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets.

Uganda Airlines :

Uganda Airlines new CRJ900

Uganda Airlines just announced it will soon be opening new routes to Addis Ababa, Harare and Zanzibar.
