Kenya Airways E190s in ground collision…

Two Kenya Airways (KQ) Embaer E190 jets were involved in a ground collision at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). The two jets are registered by KQ as 5Y-KYR which is 7.5 years old and 5Y-FFF which is 6.2 years old.

According to media reports, the two jets were parked outside KQ hangar undergoing scheduled engine maintenance. One of the jets 5Y-KYR was having an engine run test when when it has an unconfirmed incident with the breaks which resulted in it ramming into the other jet (5Y-FFF).

Damages to the two jets is expected to have some effect on Kenya Airways flight operations and will result in the two jets being out of service for longer than anticipated.
