Effective 29 January 2019, Proflight Zambia will temporarily suspend its 4 times weekly flights on the Harare~Lusaka route until the 1st of March. Proflight began operating flights between the two cities on the 9th of July 2018. The route was being operated using a 29 seater Bae Jetstream 41.
A number of reasons are being floated around some of which include:
1. Failure to repatriate funds thus making the route unsustainable for the airline.
2. Low traffic volumes due to economic uncertainty and high inflation.
3. High competition from Emirates, Ethiopian and Kenya Airways.
